Lying on the Grass Looking at Galley Head
Having grown up in the light of the Galley Head, this lighthouse has been the source of much of my inspiration. Overlooking both the Red Strand and Long Strand, the Galley Head Lighthouse has provided safe passage to ships navigating the sometimes treacherous coastline since 1878. The lighthouse displays an unusual landward arc of light because it is said, the Sultan of Turkey asked to be able to see it from Castlefreke on his visit there.
Lying on the Grass Looking at Galley Head was inspired by the close study of this landscape, local to the artist.
Giclee printed on museum grade cotton archival paper, this piece captures all of the nuance and detail of the original art and is available to order unframed or with the option of a contemporary, mounted frame. Limited to 50 prints.
